Last night, she said….

Friday was a girls night. Fun and much needed.  We had a dance party in the bar…this celebration continued thru the weekend…etc.

Saturday’s a rugby day!  NOT.  I wish…that would have been cool…But, I had a delightful day of football instead.  🙂   I went to one of the biggest games from my Alma Mater, Indiana University, which is called The Old Oaken Bucket Game. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Old_Oaken_Bucket.  ACTUALLY, I cannot just simply say that I had a fantastic “-day” because literally since Thursday I have really been enjoying myself.  This weekend was full of mischief, old friends, and lots of laughter!

Well back to Saturday, the game was a good game…even better company!  We totally had a blast.  I got back around 7pm and then met a few other friends out and about.  This is where more humor happened to find me.  I was very early so I was the first of my friends to arrive at this dive bar across town.  I went in scoped out the table situation and realized there was not an open seat in the house.  Then, I made friends with a table of guys that were sitting at a booth where I was standing.  5 minutes later  Mr. T shows up so, I just said my good byes to the kind gentleman and went from there.  He then handed me a card for a “Chip ‘n Dales” event!  AHHH THIS MAN WAS A STRIPPER!  I took the cards and scurried back to my friends.  Then later into the night, a friend of a friend was introduced.  Guess what?  He was a stripper too!!?!??!  Two in one night!  How lucky could a girl be???  UH NOT!

Also some other funny things happened…I got thrown over a guy’s shoulder and spun around, I had to climb over a booth table and ended up being “eye” level with everyone…I also ended up meeting a guy that had EVERY single opposite team liking as I did.  THAT was interesting.  From rival high schools to NFL, MLB teams….etc.  It was crazy funny.  I must say we were pretty cordial.  I found a bunch of Sweet and Low and sugar packets in my purse, walked into the Men’s Restroom, and then almost got asked out by this huge black man.  Literally, this could ONLY happen to a CatMan.  No….for real though!  It was such a great random, fun night.

OPA! Just felt like saying that for some reason...

Sunday, went to church with the family then to breakfast.  We continued to laugh our way thru it.  My brother as cruel as this sounds announced at the table that he had gone hunting the day before and shot a duck in the wing.  Unfortunately, he had to wring the duck’s neck (that’s the cruel sad part) but that they had some delightful duck meat to share.  We are hunter’s and gatherer’s over here!  Either way, it was funny how he told us.  Then the Colt’s lost….that was an incredibly horrible game….sigh.

Monday is a Monday.  Today I am listening to “The Muse” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xsp3_a-PMTw and working on a bunch of hodge podge items.  I feel like I am being torn in several different directions…although I cannot say I am overwhelmed.  This is good.  My aunt is in from out of town so I think that we are going to go for lunch tomorrow.  What an excellent part of my week!

My last thought for you all today is this, if you appreciate your family and friends, please tell them often.  You never know what kind of day they are having or if they will be around to see tomorrow.  🙂

Keep smiling, keep loving and keep sharing ideas with the world my loves!

What’s up with that?

Standard

So this week has been full of surprises.  Today was Thanksgiving.  What an amazing day.  Although I must tell you much of my problems started yesterday.

First of all I want to set the record straight…beer bottles are dangerous!  Being mischievous at a bar, second off is definitely not a good idea.  I love visiting and dancing with people!  Making friends is my specialty!  If I could have a profession of any kind, it would be to talk and connect everyone known to man.  🙂

Well essentially, what happened long story short, a beer bottle shattered in my hand.  It sliced my hand a good one….probably should have had stitches but there really was nowhere to turn.

It looks worse in person...but you get the idea!

So the inner nurse in me said “rinse and immediately apply pressure”.  My mother who is ACTUALLY a certified Nurse, agreed that I should have gotten stitches but it just wasn’t going to happen!  Sterile strips to the rescue!  So now, I shower with one glove on…no tribute to Michael Jackson I assure you.  I didn’t sleep well last night.

This morning, after mom put me back together, I ran a race with my brother and sister.  It was only 4 miles but, it was over hills and thru a cemetery.   WHOOOAH MOMMA!  That was gruesome…but we made it!  🙂

I pretty much was a slug all day today.  I was whooped.  OH  but, I did do a load of laundry!  That’s being productive….sort of?  Don’t you judge me!  ANYways….we had our family thanksgiving celebration this evening at 5pm.  It was fabulous.  Delicious.  We had fried turkey, 3 kinds of potatoes, rolls, pies, cheesecakes, and such.  It was amazing to spend time with my family.  It was simple and that’s the most important.  Faith and family are two of the most important.  After dinner we all just chilled.  Then, I took my baby sister to go see Tangled.  FOR THE RECORD, IT WAS GREAT!!!  Now, I want to get something straight….my baby sister is not reaallly a baby…she’s 13.  Now the other kicker is this….she is taller than me!  I got genetically screwed my friends.  I have accepted this as fact and as my reality.  You really should accept that fact too.  It will be harder for you but, at least you have time 😉

When we got home, we sifted thru the “Black Friday” specials in the newspaper.  It took us about an hour to see everything and create a strategy for where to first.  I have never been one to truly be a “Black Friday” shopper, but I did find a few things worth looking at…I did hear a story about a woman who waited outside a Best Buy for upwards 48 hours to ensure that she was the first in line.  Honestly, what’s up with that?  Is any material item worth that?

Not in my world I am afraid.

BLAH BLAH BLAH!

Standard

You will never guess how my morning started.  I got out of the house early and wouldn’t you know there was a TON of traffic.  I did however make it to work in record time though.  There was a car trying to pull a U-turn on the highway ramp this morning and actually that was pretty funny…out of no where and up over the grass and median…and the best part??  No not that they actually did a (pretty sure it’s an illegal action…) U-turn.  No it was not actually that they were from Illinois.  It was the fact that they did it in a HUGE Dodge Caravan!  Soccer mom missed her turn!  LOOK OUT!

Today has been a fabulous day aside from having to send an email that took me an hour to compose.  At 8AM mind you!!!  Then do you ever just feel so drained that you don’t want to do a thing after it?  Well I am pressing a long just fine.  I went on a date last night and that was fun.  We had a scary connection.  It was cool though.

Last night, I watched “It’s Complicated” for the first time and it was so good.  I laughed so hard.  What a great complement to such an already wonderful Monday.  Then I got a ring in the mail, from….well you might remember him from an earlier post….?  This is only something that would happen to a CatMan…THE ITALIAN PIMP!  Stupid business card…he found me.  I received this 2 Rose ring…which you know is just right up my ally  😉  I took a picture so you could see:

OK isn't this beautiful? What a great gift...FROM A STALKER!

Oh well, I took the ring out of the package and there was a note attached.  This note was probably one of the most sincerely cute/creepy thing I have ever seen in my life!   It read: “CatMan, I want you.  I want you to know that I want you and I want you to want me to want you…take this ring for now!  Fino alla prossima volta il mio dolce bella rosa!”  The Italian translates to: ‘until next time my sweet beautiful rose!’  How beautiful is that???  Well…it might have come from a guy that may or may not want to pimp me out but, flattering none the less.  It might be pretty spectacular that I got a gift and nice note but, I am sticking to my guns!

So I sit with my double rose ring on a happy camper.  🙂  Life is good!  Have a great day!

Party Animals!

Standard

This weekend was full of mischief and fun.  In leu of Thanksgiving, my friends had a get-together.  It ended up being a great feast.  We all got our best dishes together, drinks of choice, and all while wearing our “business casual”.  It was amazing.  This time the men were in the kitchen while the girls were sitting down relaxing.  It was great.

I was really proud of the boys for all they did to put this celebration on….it was quite the deal!  We all arrived between 4 and the time to which we were scheduled to eat (7pm).  From there, everything escalated!

Dinner was great.  Who am I kidding?  Dinner was great!  After dinner we all played games and danced and drank the night away.  I just wanted to say, for the record, that I behaved myself…but, my lovely friends well….can’t say they did the same.  There were games where I got to wear a Referee jersey and break up the fights.  I also got to sit and laugh at their stupidity.  I even had one friend tell me that if he thought eventually we–meaning he and I–would get together.  Ha I just laughed!  They are regular party animals.

I do love to laugh and my boys always know how to make me laugh until the tears roll….  The night continued to go on as the boys begun to blare the music (Journey mind you!) and proceeded to dance on tables.  What dorks?!  They looked like drunk sailors stumbling on the coffee tables…It was something out of a bad 80’s movie! They danced, sang and drank until about 3am in the morning.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kq5HBSlgI00 The party was still going on loud and proud until I left.

One thing about these boys is that I can only handle them in little doses.  They are fabulous in little spurts.  They can be sweet but then, after a whole night of harassment….it is enough for another 10 years.  They can cook, they can drink and boy they can be weirdos but when it comes down to it they have good hearts and good intentions (most of the time).  The mean well.

Let me ask you all something…what is the most ridiculous thing your friends have done?   It seems like my dears are always doing something crazy but, that is what keeps me laughing and life moving on!  🙂

Keep your head up and keep on pressing forward whether you’re a party animal or not! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CmrOB_q3tjo&feature=branded

Shattered “Joy”

Standard

So today I realized that it has been a while since I have written.  Mind you a lot has happened between now and the last time I was on…and just to add to the chaos…I realized that the next day I have free is Wed!  CRAZY.

Well, I was making beautiful ornaments for my friend’s christmas gifts and I used Peebo on them.  Peebo is a special paint used to paint on glass, then you bake it and it seals it from chipping!  Really some cool little stuff.

I was talking to one of my girlfriend’s on the phone as I was trying to place these little bulbs in the oven when out of no where one of them dropped…dead little indian!  My favorite of favorite ones shattered as I was getting ready to put it in the oven!  It was JOY!  Joy bounced on the linoleum, then bounced one more than crashed.  FAIL.  I kind of laughed at the irony.  But, never to completely lose hope I pressed on…

Next semi-humorous thing that happened to the “less than joyful CatMan”, I was sitting on my couch watching T.V.  I was in a Sangria mood.  Oh how tasty it was!  Well…I was texting and drinking (not smart if you can’t walk and talk and chew gum at the same time!) so I set my drink down on the corner of the chair’s arm and proceeded to dump it all on top of me!  Seriously?  ALL OVER MY CELL PHONE!  Upon cussing up a storm, I took a deep breath and realized my phone just was jealous that I was drinking it all!  I took the phone and dabbed it off, took a shower, then sat back down and finished my show.

maybe I should invest?

As if things couldn’t get any better?  Just wait…it does!

Now.  I feel this whole little period for me is a test.  Just then I get a text message from and old friend “just wanting to say hi!”.   Grrrr….so being the nice cordial person I am…I said hello back.  We exchanged words then I politely told him to buzz off…I was very proud of myself!  Joy at this very moment was restored.  It was like the clouds parted and God spoke to me “GREAT JOB, CatMan!” A big smile was brought to my face.

Last night was the last test that I was given.  My sister and I were creating Rosaries for Christmas gifts.  For those of you who don’t know what a Rosary is…it is a meditation tool and devotional to Our Lady.  It is a very powerful prayer.  So we bought this set.  Neither one of us has made jewelry mind you…and we were really struggling there in the beginning.  I then suggested having a drink!  We drank hot cocoa and peppermint schnapps and proceeded to dig in to the project.  Once we figured it out, it wasn’t so bad…however when it was all said and done: 2 glasses of hot cocoa drink, 2 decade’s in, one spill, one minor gash on the finger, and one movie down …we finally just laughed at our frustration!  It actually was quite comical at how pathetic we looked.  We did enjoy each other’s company though.  🙂

All in all, even despite the shattering of joy, we can still find humor in our dismay.  If you can’t find laughter then what good is it anyway??

Get to know yourself

As I sit at work and listen to my Pandora “Duffy” station, I realized we haven’t heard about or heard any music from Amy Winehouse in a while!  She is one that is so talented but, has let her addiction and lifestyle take over her.  How sad is that?  Such and amazing beautiful God-given talent she has!   Ironically I have found an article on her…or about her, rather?  http://articles.chicagotribune.com/2010-11-16/features/sc-fash-style-news-hells-angles-amy-w20101116_1_alexander-mcqueen-hells-angels-motorcycle-club-zappos

Yes...they tried to make her go to rehab...and she said no, no, no....

Travesty.  My little brother Mix and I were talking about some things that might pertain to this entry.  He is a very observant 11-year-old and asked “What the heck is this world coming to?”  He was amazed at the amount of “crazies” as he called them.  Reckless fame doesn’t teach these talented little ones to love and respect themselves for they are a special.  They fail to see they are a beautiful little gift of life that is capable of doing so much with a little love and respect!  🙂

Just interesting is all…hope and wish Ms. Winehouse the best!

Now today!  This morning…. I had a brilliant idea!  “I actually might think I am on to something my dear chap!”  (HORAY!)  I found new appreciation for my marketing passions.  I think I hypothetically figured it out….but not there quite yet!  🙂  Funny how idea flow in and out daily, hourly, minute by minute (as Michael McDonald might say…)…it is nice to know ONE might pan out!  Hope is a good thing.  Hope gets you through the darkest times…AND it is also hope that makes the darkness bright.

This period in my life is challenging to me.  I feel like I am just caught in the middle of ten crossfire’s and nothing is really of any productive manner either way I turn.  I am combating a million forces, blocking the negative and embracing the positive, karate chopping the ties of attachment to which I don’t need to have.  Life is confusing now, but good.

The other thing that I noticed this morning was the perspiration and moisture on my car this morning.

beautiful...

I try to notice at least one thing everyday that gives me wonder.  There is so much on this earth that is beauty right in front of our face!  We just choose not to pay attention to it with our hustle and bustle of life.  It stinks.  Just look around you…anywhere, where ever you are and look at what beauty surrounds you!!!  From little sprouts to dew drops, sunshine to shooting starts, a smile, a world of just simply beautiful moments!

Get to know yourself.  Respect yourself.  Then let yourself notice the beauty around you.  Once you are able to find love and respect for yourself, it will be so easy to find and locate the beauty around you!

My date…with Billy and Herb!

Standard

Ok.  So I just got home from my date with Billy.  It was fabulous.  He really knows how to work me right!  😉  Yes he is ripped! and man after about an hour that’s about all I can handle!  Well….Billy Blank’s Work Out DVD’s are fabulous in helping a girl who has been literally eating ice cream and cake ONLY the last 72 hours straight.

OH man something funny happened today.  I was assisting my 95-year-old friend (Herb, you remember?) today for approximately 5 hours.  We had several things that needed to be done that he needed my help for….First off, we had to get all of his business in order (2 hours) then I had to follow him over across town to take his car into the body shop.  That was a nerve-racking experience and let me tell you we pulled several illegal u-turns as well as ticked a lot of people off.  Try a u-turn in a Cadillac….yeah not so much.  He was slightly disoriented, but in his defense…the streets around this part of town are definitely confusing the way they are laid out.  Well after about 15 or so minutes driving around, he pulled over and let me lead.

You can just imagine....I felt like I was his second guardian angel!

5 minutes we were there.  He takes his car in and comes waddling out to my car.  As he sits down, he boldly states “Well that was an adventure, wasn’t it?”  All I could respond was “Yes Herb that was…”.  I totally shook my head at him in disbelief!  I shouldn’t be surprised!  This was Herb we were talking about!!  We proceed to go to lunch and then back to his place so I could put his laundry away.

I at times might get frustrated with Herb, but that is only because he demands that I drop everything to help him.  His level of expectation is to the sky and beyond!  I must say I learned a lot and am continuing to learn a lot from this man.  He has so much life experience it’s not even funny!  Herb was as he puts it “partly cloudy” yesterday.  He wasn’t really all with it.  I don’t think he is feeling well personally.  Another hard thing that he has confided in me is that because his family is the way it is, he is going to have all of his possessions auctioned off.  He thinks this would be best.  I do too.  His family doesn’t deserve to have him.  Such is jealousy.  What a monster destroyer!  This has affected him mentally a ton.  It is so sad to see that affect him the way it does.  It just swallows him up….like Jonah and the whale!

Well on his adventure of life, no matter if he is groveling, laughing, crying, or hurting he always knows how to connect with people.  He always knows when something is up and when something more importantly is bothering them.  He is good like that.

Today I urge you to call an old friend up and tell them how much they mean to you.  Tell them before it is too late.  Notice those little things and learn to appreciate them because that is what matters.  Caring about people and letting them know how much the mean to you really is important.  Promise.  🙂

Run so far away….

Standard

So a girlfriend of mine was telling me about her day.  She told me how excited that she made it thru her long run!  This long run was no easy task!  There were lots of hills, drunk guys chasing her, and a deer that wanted her as well.  It was treacherous to say the least!

In Washington D.C., I was informed they don’t ever see deer but as of lately the deer population has heightened and invaded.  As she started on her run, she was moving at a swift pace.  Nothing can stop this gazelle!  Long strides, relaxed from her head to her toes…..this girl is throughly enjoying the run!

Well about 3 miles into it she passes a gentleman on the highway clearly drunk.  She avoids him like the plague; however he manages to try to stumble after her!  As she picks up the pace a little more she falls!  (GASP!)  The drunk man gets with in a few feet of her…hurt and bloodied she manages to dust herself off enough to move on!  She runs like the wind until she knows she is out of the crazy man’s reach!

Whoooo…..she’s safe.  She then proceed to press thru this long run of hers.  Over the hills and thru the woods, to grandmothers house she goes!  Not really but it sounded good to put that small detail in there.  Ups and downs.  The thing that gets her thru this part of the run is the fact that her ghetto booty is going to look nice and fine when she’s done.  🙂

Yeah thats right….http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ImZTwYwCug

By the time she is done fantasizing about Sir-Mix-Alot….she realized a deer is coming at her pretty well head on!  EKKK!!!

AHHHHHH!

So she runs at light speed to get passed this deer that is now running at her full speed ahead!  She looks to the right, fakes to the left and just narrowly misses the deer by about 6 inches!  DANG….what a run this has been thus far and as she is almost finished….chug-uh, chug-uh, chug-uh…..chooo chooo!  Keep going little engine!!

As she heads up to her front door step, bloodied and pride damaged, she can finally breathe knowing that there is nothing finally chasing her.  She is safe and sound.  Just as she reaches for the handle of her door she hears this growling at the door….OH NO…..NEIGHBORS DOG! AHHHHH!

Don't underestimate the meanness of this dog...it could get ugly!

Lesson:  Never run outside anywhere in D.C.  Just go to a facility indoors and save yourself the trouble and pain.  Don’t become scarred for life because a drunk homeless dude, a deer and your neighbor’s dog want you!

Back to reality, OP!, there goes gravity…

Standard

Back in the office after a really great week in Orlando.  I am back to reality.   Stacks of papers and projects line my desk and work area.  It is funny how being gone for 4 days will do this to a person when she comes back:

See what I mean???

Last night, I realized that I am a connector person.  I have a way of affecting people just from being around them, and I realized to that this is all the more reason I need to be more positive.  This week was about discovery.  Self discovery, self exploration, and business.  It was through the trade show interactions, airport random conversations, and most of all getting to know the people I was surrounded with that I realized I live for connecting with people.  🙂  It really makes my soul burst!  I also came to the conclusion that I cast a lot of judgements.  I need to not do that.

I was reminded to sit in observation mode.  Who am I to tell others how to conduct and live their lives?  Who am I to say that the outfit so-and-so is wearing doesn’t match and definitely doesn’t flatter their body type?  I am not the one to say that.  I need to be in observation and discernment mode.  What I can tell you is this:  By looking at how a person acts, dresses, and carries themselves you can learn a lot about them as a customer, client or just a passer-by.  Everything they do whether they recognize it or not, has an indicator about them.  Someone who smiles all the time, are they genuinely happy?  OR, are they a great actor?  Sometimes the phrase, “you can see it in her eyes” holds so true.  You can tell a lot from looking someone directly square in the eyes.  Try it and watch for a reaction!  Do they turn away or do they look right back?  🙂  Peer into their soul!  Find out what makes them tick and just take it all into account.  Why are they so happy? or sad? or just looking like they could use a hug?

Observation mode is one of the most interesting positions to be in most of the time.  You sit, non judgmental and just watch.  It’s actually more enjoyable than a movie!  This is why I love traveling!  What a great eclectic culture of people in such a concentrated area!  It is just so fabulous to me and brings me great joy.

"don't judge us!" hehe

You can learn a ton about a person just from observing them.  It is not being creepy….well…….

(Not like this!) 😉

It is just literally a better way to reach out to others when you are a little more informed.  🙂  You may find that you enjoy people more when you stop looking for their flaws and just go with it!

I heart “The Mouse”!

Standard

Tonight I turn to none other that Mr. Disney himself, Walt Disney:

“A person should set his goals as early as he can and devote all his energy and talent to getting there. With enough effort, he may achieve it. Or he may find something that is even more rewarding. But in the end, no matter what the outcome, he will know he has been alive.”

Tonight I visited the mouse!  I absolutely feel more energized and this feeling is like none other truthfully.  (Don’t think I am childish…you would feel this way too if you were here!)  I think if I could just get a weekly tasted of Disney I would be one of the happiest person’s alive.  No, but seriously……if you think I am kidding you should ask my friends.  MY TRUE friends!

My brother, sister, and I all went as kids to Disney and so began my love of The Mouse.  No joke, being a cheerleader in a UCA environment, all our competitions were at Disney’s Wide World of Sports.  I LOVED IT!  So, I am pretty sure that is all where my love of The Mouse began.

Mr. Y had never been to Downtown Disney, so we went on an exploration!  We saw dinosaur bones, dancing chickens, a man doing the “Macarena“, a Latin Party Central,  a magic store, giant Legos, a Crab Boat, a rain forest where you can eat under a huge mushroom, shops galore, and even a planet devoted to Hollywood!!!  What a treat!!!

What a beautiful reminder to set goals.  A reminder that I CAN dream and I CAN explore and most of all it’s OK!  AND the best part is The Mouse actually encourages it!!!  I have accepted that I am naturally thirsty and curious.  I am loving new environments.  AND overall that is how I learn best!  I am just so excited I was able to see Disney.  When I am there, everything is all new.  I got complemented today, I was all smiles, and I even (for a second time mind you) got compared to Mary Lou Retton!

See some resemblance?

What a precious joyous day!  Mr. Y and I met so many wonderful people today and it all was well worth it.  It was nice being down here and it was nice learning from him.  There were a few people we wrote off at the ISSA Show; they had a burr up their bum….not our fault and we definitely didn’t let it ruin our day obviously.  🙂

When you are feeling discouraged, or you feel like you aren’t as good as what you should be please remember to love yourself and who you are.  “The more you like yourself, the less you are like anyone else, which makes you unique.” (another Walt Disney quote!)  Second, dare to dream!  Dream like Walt Disney dreamt, and you can never go wrong.  What an inspiration to everyone and just think, if we all loved and accepted ourselves as creatures of God and dreamt a dream and we all desired to make it possible….what an imaginative beautiful way of life it would be!   That right there friends is what it is all about!

Please meet The Mouse! 😉
