Advice from a Tree

Aside

This morning I wanted to start off on a serious note.  This is just one example of what happens when you live up to your potential and choose to follow your passions.  Please take ten minutes to watch this feature on Pat Summitt, former Tennessee Volunteer’s Women’s Basketball Coach.  She was a pioneer in women’s sports as well as just an awesome reminder that no matter what life throws at you with the right attitude, holding integrity through your actions, and following your heart will propel you into greater success than what you can imagine.  I admire what she as well as so many others have done in fighting for equality in media coverage, attendance and most of all giving women and equal shot at sports.  They have qualities that are appealing and should be shown.  http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=8158231

I always try to look for the good in people.  I try to see what makes them tick and normally the first thing I see is their potential.  Sometimes it is deceiving when you are enamored with this immense amount of dreams without being grounded in the reality that this person is the only one that is able to choose to live up to their potential.  It all falls back in their court.  When they start walking down the stagnant route and lounging lazily along the course of their life sometimes it takes someone to come along and nudge them. Some are responsive while others are annoyed.  All the while others might not be receptive of anything because they aren’t there yet.  It is so very important on this journey to get on the right path and choose to live up to our potential and make our dreams come to life!  We owe it to ourselves.  We owe it to this world to give others what we have to offer.

If we are to live up to our own potential, then we must learn to prioritize and detach.  As we detach, certain things start standing out as priority and the rest doesn’t really matter.  Prioritizing.  We start to witness the beauty and of goodness rather than the heavy negatives to which hold us back from our potential.  When we simply take a step back from our initial human reaction, we can clearly see what needs to happen verse reacting and causing unnecessary grief.  Observe.  Listen.  We need to listen to what God is speaking to us and allow Him to work through us.  As we learn how to let God guide us in this path for the search of potential and passions that lie deep within the core of our soul, we too find our very place in this world for inspiration, desire, and ultimately living our life as we ought to be living.

If we choose not to live up to our potential, sometimes that is the hardest thing to understand for those of us who have crossed that difficult barrier.  It is a scary place to make such a life changing decision yet, with the right conditions, nurturing, and attitude even the seed in rocky soil will be transformed and enlightened!

What is your potential?  Do you recognize it?

Behind every man….

Behind every great man is a woman rolling her eyes.
Jim Carrey

There is great truth behind this comment.  Think about it….how many “great ideas” come before one is achieved?  (eye roll)  The answer is too many.  Just do it.  Stop over thinking it and just do it already!  How hard can it be?  ha.  OH very hard apparently.

When we over think we are allowing our brain to over ride our natural ability to listen.  We process until we process something to death.  Now that is not very productive AT ALL.  So why do we do it?  Good question!  Because we are control freaks.  So, today is about listening to the whole thing not just one aspect but ALL aspects.

This week, I managed to throw my back out picking up a box.  Yes it was as silly as it sounds.

I went to the chiropractor and a massage therapist.  I feel 95% better.  After last night, I have more mobility than I did and I feel like she really did a great job!  Crunch, crunch, crunch…I was a regular hot mess.  When I got home and relaxed–I felt so much better.  I was drinking lots of water.  I am a little sore, but it was well worth it.  Icing has been helping.

While I was in the massage, she told me that she was trying to intuitively listen to where my body was pulling.  So can I do that too?  Sure I can!  That isn’t hard…I mean sometimes it can be tricky…but anyone can listen.  I decided that I was really going to make a conscious effort to listen better.  Shut the pride and brain down and listen to what my heart and body were saying.  Seek the listening first.  Then adjust accordingly to seek balance.  That is going to be my goal.

Maybe if I had just listened to my body say “that’s too heavy CatMan”…I wouldn’t be in such pain.  The parts of the body are so intricate and everything hinges off each other.  This being said, your heart, physical body, spirit, conscious mind, intellect, emotions, soul and over all energy have some “words to say about you”.  If you want to feel your best?  All you have to do is listen!  When something is out of whack, it might scream at you until you do something about it.  Simply stated, if I had listened to my body saying “no way!” I might not be in this mess.  I would have saved approximately $167 and the pain of looking like a sissy.  Nothing hurts the ego more than that.

Through all of this Nomad has been a peach.  Very empathetic as he has back issues and knows it is a pain in the rear literally.  These painful times are a good reminder to balance.  Where there is an action, there is an equal cause or reaction…or something like that.

Well speaking of Nomad, he is doing some really great things.  He is looking into going back to school.  This is a very positive long time coming decision.  I am really proud of him.  It took him a decent amount of time to discern this whole thing and figure out what his best option was going to be and I think he is on the right track.  Maybe not exactly to the program he needs, but he is getting there!  I have been trying to encourage him, motivate him, and etc…but you know people move in their own time.  (eye roll)

FIRE! FIRE! FIRE!

Standard

OK so today’s status=happy!  I just ordered room service and it looks delicious!  I finished eating it and not three seconds later the darn fire alarm goes off!  BAM!  Just like that I shove my boots on, grab my room key and run down to get myself to the lobby.  When I got to the lobby, I first asked if this was for real.  It was but, not actually for a fire….just a water pipe.  (THANK GOODNESS!)

There have been many firsts this trip for me.  Since I have not had my bag all week I have been forced to wash my undies and socks in the sink of my hotel.  I blew them dry with a hair dryer.  check.  I also have sparked and met so many wonderful people in such a foreign place.  I have had many of spiritual experiences that I could not have had anywhere else.  I am so blessed.  I got to bond with some wonderful women that I would have never met had I not got stranded.  I ordered ROOM SERVICE!  Yes, that was a first.  I talked with some gentlemen around the bar about politics and morals and that was definitely a first!  AND most of all I fended for myself.  I made it and I did it.  I busted out of my sheltered shell and I had a great few days vacation!  I was placed here with a bigger purpose.  Bigger than me for sure.

Now I enjoy my coffee.  Relaxing and listening to Spoon.  Here have a tastes courtesy of http://www.youtube.com:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eaqWSGenyE0.

I now understand a few things that I would have never understood before if I had not just gone thru what I did.  There are many people who are bright souls.  Listen to your instinct and be kind to everyone.  You never know what is up in their world. You always will be blessed with kindness if you give and recognize kindness.  Recognize as equal as you do the GOOD, the BAD as well and rebuke it.  For it is when you recognize and rebuke the evil that you are able overcome and have a deeper understanding of where you stand and ultimately love.

Today I recognize my roots.  I am grounded.  I am beautiful and I am me.  Nothing about that is anything less than wonderful and amazing.  I want to be in good light so that I might touch more people’s lives in a POSITIVE way.  I love those who surround me with light and love and for those who don’t…you are still in my heart.  🙂

“Everything at this very moment is beautiful.  Everything right at this moment is turned from chaos to peace.  I recognize I am only human but thru listening to my instinct, my heart and soul and most of you almighty God my life will continue to forever change into light and of love.  Grant me with wisdom and understanding toward all of those that come in and out of my life and that I might not know of their situation.”
